Sand Flats Recreation Area Campgrounds
Map ID: 12

These campgrounds are located just a few miles east of Moab on a high plain of beautiful slickrock domes, bowls and fins. Over 120 campsites provide convenient access to the famous Slickrock and Porcupine Rim mountain bike trails, and almost 30 miles of 4×4 trails. Beautiful views of colorful mesas and the nearly 13,000 foot peaks of the La Sal Mountains make camping here a memorable experience. These campsites cannot be reserved, but are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Campsites have picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets but no drinking water or showers. Some sites offer ample parking for large RVs but there are no electric or sanitary hookups.

Pack it In, Pack it Out
When choosing a camp spot, pick one that’s been used before, and leave it in better shape than you found it. Make sure to fully extinguish all fires until ashes are cool to the touch, and do your best to avoid disturbing the natural landscape.
